London - Move from MM to UMM/MF - Possible?
Hi Monkeys,
I am debating accepting an offer to join London office of a U.S. MM Specialist PE focusing on Tech.
My key consideration is if later down the road would it be possible for me to lateral to UMM / MF?
I expect to get plenty of deal experience, as the shop has high transaction volume. Think that this coupled with industry expertise that I hope to develop could help me lateral, should I want to.
I am currently Analyst at a BB and I weight my options to jump on this opportunity vs. wait a bit longer and trying to get UMM/MF offer next recruiting season, which is uncertain given the state of the market and competitiveness of the processes.
Can you share comp range for this MM?
I think depending on your background - if you come from top tier BB and speak a desirable European language, very possible to lateral to UMM/MF. Otherwise need some networking.
It's hard but doable. Main thing is getting deal experience and proving yourself capable of 'more' modelling.
Definitely possible. Just get into the industry and get promoted, then you’ll become quite quickly a scarce commodity by default
