Turnaround P-E as experienced hire

Hi everyone,

Been following the platform for a long time now - decided to leverage your diverse points of view.

Background: started career in IB - HY and IG DCM ranking top analyst. Wanted to have more impact on strategic initiatives outside of financing especially on struggling corporates - special situations / distressed types. Considered I would have more impact from inside, thus joined a low HY corporate looking after Equity/Debt Financings and M&A, and now head for M&A in a buy and build PortCo.

Situation: Turnaround / distressed P-E seems interesting dealing with both operational streamlining and financial performance, asset optimisation, but seems to recruit in majority from IBDs in BB. I am considering doing a top7 MBA to lateral.

Question: what is the best path in your view to get there? Would the MBA be the only solution or are there funds that would be considering the profile - which I consider useful and still relatively « young » / 28/29/30y.o.
