Brokerage Split Negotiation
Hi All,
I’m wondering if you could provide me with some insight on your split negotiation when you first moved from an analyst position to an associate on an investment sales / capital markets team. I’ve been told I’m due for an increase in pay and was told something along the lines of a slight ($5k) increase in salary plus 1% of fees generated. I’m thinking about countering and asking for commission only (the team shares fees FYI, not worried about sourcing deals myself). Curious what percentage would be a good ballpark figure so I can do the math on what would be a better option. Team is quite lean, and the associate which just left received approximately 30% of fees, but they had a few years of experience more than me.
