Trying to decide between undergrad business schools

Hi fellow apes,

I’m currently trying to decide between two elite business schools for undergrad. First being NYU Stern and the other being UMass Amherst. At the moment I’m heavily leaning towards UMass I hear they are becoming a target over the last couple years, I saw some placement in Goldman and Evercore IB. Would you consider UMass a target school if I want to go to a BB and hopefully end up on their M&A team. Any advice would be appreciated.

I was in the same shoes as you deciding between Wharton and Penn State. Ended up Penn State and BB S&T (think JP, Citi, GS). I’ve seen some UMass presence on the street in a few credit trading products so kinda ur call. But honestly from from pure brain power perspective, I hear the kids at self-proclaimed “Zoomass” are not the brightest so there’s that. Good luck tho. Feel free to PM.

Controversial

umass 10 times out of 10. Can place well and will actually have a social life. Know multiple kids at NYU there is no greek life (if there is it blows) and if you aren’t an athlete the social life isn’t the move. Also you don’t want to go in college in NYC if you want to work there for 10+ years much better to experience different things. I made the choice between Stern and a big 10 school and don’t regret my decision at all because I ended up with an offer at GS/MS and I won’t be 100k in debt out of college. Sure someone from Stern will give you an opposite view and to each his own, but NYU kids can never claim they had a real college experience. Can’t speak to Umass, but I can speak to NYU because I almost went there. At the end of the dat go for the experience you won’t regret! Life is short and choosing a school because it places better in IB is honestly sad in my opinion but you’ll hear otherwise on this forum. Wherever you go, live it up!

lmao all the stern kids MSing me because they have no college experience and no greek life or social life. Not everything is about “recruiting opportunities” nyu kids are all virgins and there is no disputing it. Don’t listen to the kids that call a school a “tier 2.5” school like the people below, be someone who’s personality isn’t just finance (cough cough Stern kids)
