How early is it ok to apply for new jobs?

Just started as an analyst on a desk at my bank a few weeks ago. Super early I know, but I think I might want to try to break into a Macro Desk as opposed to Credit which is what I am on now.
I'm not gonna apply for a new job after a month, but how about 6 months? Is this common in analyst programs or do most analysts stick the first few years out?

Edit: I’d be fine with credit trading, currently in a structuring role. Not much mobility at my bank.

Are you planning on moving internally or lateraling to an entirely new bank? Think that’s pretty important information.

Also interested in how you’ve determined that credit isn’t where you want to be in such short time?

I’m on a structuring desk, I want to move to a trading desk. Would be fine with credit trading but their are no seats at my bank. Don’t really see much internal mobility here.

I know people who have lateraled after a year but not too familiar with this department
