banking or consulting for VC

I long term wanna get into VC.

I was wondering would getting into consulting or banking help me achieve that? I am sitting on a full time M&A offer from GS London in one of their industry teams but I found the work boring/work life balance poor so wanna pivot into consulting. I know it will depend on the type of consulting firm i get an offer from, but suppose I got an offer from a T2 firm (like OC&C/OW/EYP etc), would I be able to get into VC from that?

And if I was to lucky enough to get an offer from MBB, then would that make the transition into VC very easy?

thanks

Well in terms of preftige GS M&A > T2 MBB, but at the end of the day IBD and MBB will give you equal chances to break into VC, and it all boils down to what you want to do. VC in London is purely networking-based, so you have to ask yourself where you think you'll be happier, because you'll have to develop meaningful relationships, develop useful skills and craft an interesting storytelling - VC care less about preftige, so for them you're just an M&A banker among hundreds of others.
