2011 Quantnet MFE Rankings

Andy over at Quantnet just released the 2011 MFE ranking. I wanted to let everyone here know about it in case some of you haven't discovered the site.

Looks pretty good.

Quantnet rankings are completely full of shit. Baruch above Berkeley? Please. They peddle Baruch so hard over at Quantnet its disgusting. It's a great program for the money, but it's definitely not a top five program.

I am not too familiar with MFE programs and rankings, butbi know Baruch has a solid and developed program. Being in NYC also helps. How is it bullshit other than berkely being a better name than Baruch?

I agree that it's a solid program, and it is better than half the programs on that list. But it's not in the same league as CMU, Princeton, Berkeley Haas, Chicago, Columbia. I know at least a handful of graduates of each of the top 15 programs in the QN rankings and based on the quality of those students and the positions they were able to secure after graduating, I think Baruch should be 9th or 10th on the list at best.

FWIW, I was admitted by Columbia, Cornell, CMU, Baruch, Michigan, and Stanford (rejected by Princeton). Baruch was the last on my list and the only people I know who have chosen Baruch over the others have done so because of financial constraints.

With that said, it's still a high quality education with really great ROI. But the QN guys really need to get real about how hard they push Baruch onto the people who post in the forums.

Fair enough, like i said it isn't my area of expertise. I personally think Priceton should not be on the list because they are half MSF , half MFE, but I suppose we could debate every ranking.

Same with MIT I guess.

Forgive me for being an idiot, but what is the difference between the MSF and the MFE? And can you give examples of those programs. I am guessing MFE is more quantitative.
