Advice for Call Conerning Potential Internship
I am a freshman at a target school. I am seeking advice for a call that I have soon with a 10-15 employee middle market private equity firm in my hometown. I am exploring interning at this firm and contacted an alumni working at the firm about possible internship opportunities and he referred me to the manager of the intern process at the firm.
After getting in touch with the manager of the intern process concerning internship opportunities for this summer, I was able to set up a call. In this manager’s email to me, he said “it would be great to hear a bit more of what you are looking for and why.” I have genuine reasons for being interested in this firm as well as private equity as a whole, but I am not sure exactly what approach I should take in answering this question. I am seeking advice for how to effectively capitalize on this call and turn it into an internship. I would prefer to be paid and would be willing to do lots of tasks for the firm, but I am not sure exactly how to most effectively convey my desires to a) get an internship b) get paid and c) do meaningful work. If you have any suggestions please let me know.
