Received a BB S&T offer but HR didn't mention sign-on bonus in the call. Should I email to ask? On the phone I also agreed to reply by the end of next week. Would it be ok to ask for an extension? Will it result in retraction of offer? thank you in advance.

If it's for SA, there is no signing bonus. If it's FT, the signing bonus will be listed on the contract.
I believe most BBs/boutiques/top MMs give 1-2k "relocation" bonus for SA which comes with the first paycheck.

If its a BB, 99% chance you get $10/15k....packages are standard. Tell them that before you make the final decision, you'd like to look over the contract papers. That will give you an "extension" until the offer letters are mailed, and the offer will state your sign-on.
Just for reference, my BB offer specified 5k sign on (paid after signing the contract) and 5k relocation (paid when I start working).
No doubt bring this up with HR, sign on bonus is important to get you started living in NYC/LND. Look out for number 1.
