Bank Spring Hiring Effort

Looking at accepting an offer yet concerned about better opportunities arising in the spring semester....

Looking for insight in regards to hiring efforts for the major banks in the spring filing spots that were otherwise not completely filled in the fall....

How late in the season do banks hire?
Continue to hire into late Spring?

Thank you.

Its a mixed bag. Yes banks will recruit for the leftover spots in the spring but do you really wanna take that risk? On the other hand, the competition is arguably less since all the strong people have already signed. What offers do you have currently?

I wouldn't do it. Banks technically hire year round but typically only to fill the positions that you mentioned and then the ones for those who leave early, etc. The problem is, you are assuming you are next in line at XYZ to get a call if someone declines their offer and, frankly, that is so unlikely. When I did FT recruiting last year some banks I interviewed at or heard about had acceptance rates on their initial offers where 80%+ and it might actually be even higher now. Is being unemployed worth have a job at what you would consider a better firm? Chances are, in your head & on here, it is, but in all reality, one bank is usually only marginally better than another bank and most of them will give you similar experience and quality exit opps.

You wold be silly not to accept the offer you have. Whether you renege on that offer later in the year because something better came up is a different situation.
