Big 4 Internal Transferring from Day 1

Hey all,

I'm starting at one of the Big 4 in the next couple weeks, and was recruited into a role that I'm not entirely happy with (it's an advisory role in TAS, but accounting oriented). Long story short, I really wanted to get into the firm so I accepted the role hoping that I can move around internally to the role I would much rather have. In hindsight this might not have been the smartest plan, but now that I'm here I might as well go through with it.

How should I approach this? From what I understand, I meet with an "advisor" on Day 1 to discuss my goals...should I let him/her know that I'd like to, if possible, be put on some projects outside of my immediate group (in the group where I want to transfer to)? Or should I keep it secret for a while?

Aside from whether or not I should tell my coach, what might be the best way to network with people from the group I really want to join? I'd imagine it's probably a bit different than trying to reach out "cold" from outside the firm.

Thanks so much!
