Brokerage Competitor Reaches Out When I'm 4 months in my First Fulltime Job
So I'm working at one of the big brokerages as a research analyst, loving it so far and happy this is my first job out of college - I'm in my fourth month here. On LinkedIn, one of the people that works at one of our two main competitors reaches out and asked if I can apply for an open Associate position in the market I'm working in. I'm curious about the position and what they have to offer as I plan to transition to the actual brokerage side after giving ~2yrs as a research analyst. Should I take the introductory call with this guy from the competitor to see what they have to offer? Just worried the brokers within the firm I'm at will find out, because I'm in a secondary market and everyone knows everyone else's business here...
Set up the call and make the introduction but don’t jump ship yet. If he’s trying to poach you this early I have a feeling he’ll have no problem letting you go if you don’t perform
Recruiters like to go fishing and see what bites. You’re (maybe) going to get a lot of LinkedIn messages and what not. Put your year or two in and learn the current job. You just got to the party.. dance with the one who brought you for a little bit
Appreciate it guys, thanks!
