Career Advice - MBA or Not?
Here's my situation....previously work in transaction advisory for the Big 4, now at a PE shop doing buyouts in a pre-MBA position...
long-term i think investment management or something on the buyside would be ideal, but am not sold on the whole MBA thing
Options are:
- do an MBA hopefully at a top school
- accept a job again in the transaction advisory work, decent salary and all-in comp around $150 which might sound nice for transaction advisory but I think could limit my career / options
- look for another opportunity such as HF or another buyside opportunity without doing an MBA
Who has been in this situation? Any recommendations? The opportunity cost of the MBA just seems pretty large...
From what I know, to move up the ladder in PE you need an MBA...I think thats proof enough to go get an MBA
