Career Path Advice - Compliance - KYC Officer
I recently got a job offer at a big four bank as an KYC officer in their Funds Group. Can anyone give advice on salary I should shoot for (and the long-term potential), typical annual bonus amount, and career path trajectory? Feel free to offer any advice on the prospects of working in compliance period. Thanks a lot!
I am in similar situation...have an offer from a major AM/PE firm as a compliance analyst, im also curious as to what the prospects are for a career in compliance
Any advice?
Anecdotal, but I have a friend who interned at the SEC in New York a couple years ago. He mentioned how regular SEC employees were getting offered left and right to come join various banks' and firms' compliance divisions. There were people everyday who "were meeting friends for a long lunch" in suits. Anecdotal again, but a few traders at the firm I'm interning at now mentioned to me that they shifted into compliance for "stable and good money."
I should say, however, that the former anecdote is from a few months after Dodd-Frank passed and the latter could be from the same time frame. I'd still say that it seems to be a stable, decent paying gig. (But everyone you send paperwork to will hate you.)
