Cheap Clothes for College Student - Networking Events - Women

Do I need to buy nice suits for networking events at my non-target college? I have 2-3 from H&M and places like Allen Solly. I'm outside the US for the summer and bought some stuff from Allen Solly. I don't know if that's a good brand but the clothing looks nice. I've never shopped for professional clothing except at H&M so I don't have anything to compare them to. Do I need to buy stuff from Burberry etc for networking events or can I wait until the interview? Most of my event shave a business casual dress code, so I have a few pants (from GAP) and shirts lined up. I can afford to buy a suit from Banana Republic. I don't know if that's considered a "good" brand in the Finance industry.

The most important thing is how you look in the clothes. You can buy a Tom Ford and look like a monkey, or you can get a H&M and look brilliant and vice versa. I would not focus to much on branding especially in this kind of event. What I would focus on it’s the style and the way I look. I’ve saw plenty of women dressed in high end brand clothes that look like baboons.

So it’s all about the look and style. Focus of that and forget the brand for a second. Wear something that looks good on you and gives you confidence wearing it.

What’s your style? What do you plan to wear?

My style would be wearing neutrals and super simple. I've been really into patterned pants lately like these two.

For business casual, I was thinking khaki blazer over a navy blue sweater (it's thin not chunky or wool. Not sure if it is a sweater). I have my black and dark grey suits from H&M and a couple of white button up blouses for business professional events.

A jumper? I would go with a casual outfit rather than a business suit at this type of event. I tend to avoid business outfits at this type of events perhaps it's just me but I've noticed that people are more likely to be open an interact with you in a casual outfit at this kind of events.
