Choosing between Financial Analyst at IBM and Broker Trainee at Charles Schwab - Advice? Opinions?
Hello monkeys,
I'm a new user here - just stumbled across the website and wow, I wish I would've found this a few years ago. My question is on a transition into the financial world.
I want to get into equity research or Asset Management and i have two job offers:
Financial Analyst at IBM - entry level, learning opportunities, opportunity to move to NY in a couple years, tuition reimbursement (i intend to pursue MBA if i go this route), solid pay, further from long term career goals
Broker Trainee at Charles Schwab - Series 7 and 65 (and others if wanted), encouraged to pursue CFA, little upward mobility in first few years (They look to hire level II CFA's within), pretty bad pay, slightly closer to long term career goals
Two completely different paths, I know. My question is, which will position me best to move into the asset management or equity research in the future?
Thanks and I'm looking forward to your replies,
Mikealaddin
I would slap you across the face and tell you to wake up and take the job at IBM - no real explanation needed.

Thanks for the honest advice - nobody I personally know like professors and family seem to give me real opinions, its always "work hard and it will all be good, kid".
My bad. I accidentally hit the poo button. Feel free to fling it back.
You will not do in any sort of relevant or applicable analysis as a broker trainee. Hate to burst your bubble, but it is a glorified sales and support role. Go with IBM 100%.
IBM and it's not even close. Take the offer and run, dude.
