Choosing Between Google, Visa, T2 Consulting, Uber

Hey everyone,

I'm wrapping up FT recruitment and would love your guys' input here about making the right decision. For context, I'm graduating from Duke/Dartmouth/Brown type school in the spring, and want to choose the job that makes the most sense for my goals: strong MBA (H/S, M7 placement), good career and compensation trajectory, and the chance to break into the tech scene as a Product Marketer or Manager. How would you guys rank the following offers I received?

  1. Return offer at a T2 consulting firm: I spent my junior summer there, and thought the experience was just okay. I enjoyed working with really smart people, and the people in my office were fantastic. With that being said, I was staffed on a dysfunctional team and hated the internal politics, didn't love the staffing model (network-based), and started feeling the effects of burn-out from the M-Th travel schedule. That being said, I could always grind out two years for the industry exit opportunities and resume boost. Of course, there could be a chance I can't break into my desired industry. Year 1 Comp is around 90-95k, in a HCOL area like LA, but West Coast location is important since I want to break into tech.

  2. Development/Rotational Program at Visa: I spent a sophomore summer in the payments industry and thought it was pretty interesting. The experience here seems good; you get to rotate across 4 functions including corporate strategy, product, marketing, and corporate development for 2 years before getting placed into one of those functions at an accelerated pace—I'd probably choose Visa PM. Ultimately, I want to end up in tech working as a product guy (marketing or management), so not sure how great the exit options are. Visa's a good name, but it's no Google or tech unicorn so I'm not sure. Comp is pretty good, with Year 1 TC around 110k with 45-50 hour work weeks, but at the cost of Bay Area HCOL.

  3. Account Strategy at Google: This position is an interesting mix of sales and advertising. In essence, I would be given a book of business and responsible for consulting with small and medium sized business in regards to their advertising strategy on Google. Unfortunately, I would also be held to a target and responsible for increasing their spend. It's a mix between sales and advertising consulting. I'm not jazzed about having to do sales, but it could be a valuable experience. Internal mobility seems like a possibility as well at Google, but it is a risk I'd be taking. Google's name is pretty strong though. TC depends on whether I choose Ann Arbor or Bay Area. I'm leaning SF even though rent is insane, and the TC there would be around 70k base, 20k in incentives, insane benefits, and stock. The total number would probably be around 105k, although I would need to hit incentives.

  4. Finance Development Program at Uber: This position is a corporate finance rotational/leadership program at Uber. Great name, solid role and development program, with TC of around 105k in the Bay. Normally, I would have ranked this number 1. However, Uber is bleeding cash and I'm already questioning my future job security. New non-tech hires are the first to get cut, and I already have some friends who have gotten laid off. Uber's bleeding cash, and with a recession looming, I'm not optimistic about my odds of finishing my two years at Uber. If i was a SWE, I'm sure I could lateral around, but as a finance guy I don't love my mobility.

Which would you guys choose based on compensation, job security, career trajectory, exit options, and MBA placement?
