Collection Account - Screwed in Accounting/Finance?
I have no freak'n clue how it happened but I have a $80 medical bill stuck in collections and I'm not sure that I'll be able to get it expunged from my credit report (I will pay it obviously but it'll still be on my report). I would have paid it had I known about it. I have 7 years experience in finance and have done some pretty good stuff and have recently been applying for some pretty good positions at some F500 companies. I had a phone interview last week so I pulled my credit report to see how things sat and this bombshell hit me like a ton of bricks.
Would an $80 medical bill in collections in a report with otherwise impeccable history disqualify me from employment in accounting/finance with many employers? I'm sick over this.
Bump
I don't think it would since it's a really small amount, would probably be best to disclose this sometime in the process before they find out via background check.
How bad are they at collections that you had to find out from your own report..
I know. You'd think I would get a call. It's just horrible that it's over 80 freaking dollars. I pray prospective employers can tell it's a fluke. I've paid off all of my debt save my mortgage since I graduated in 2009 and have no late payments or any other marks in my report.
I wouldn't stress over it, just be upfront when it comes time for the check.
