College Senior Seeking Advice Getting a JOB

Hello guys! I'm a senior at a liberal arts college. I had an internship last summer at a BB but did not like it. Now I have only several months left before I graduate. Interested in going to the buy-side, like asset management. Seeking good advice on getting my foot in the door somewhere. Thank you!

Are you at a target? Major/GPA?

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Did you get a return offer? Consider extending graduation by a semester and trying to get an internship for next summer and to get more time to network for the role you want for FT recruiting. Wayup.com has a ton of summer internships posted.

Hello! Thank you for your advice! I didn't get an offer. Extending graduation by a semester sounds like a good idea. I was told that many internship for next summer were done recruiting ny now, do you know what kind of opportunities are still available at this moment? And how to best proceed under current circumstance?

Best Response

Sure. Most IB internship positions are done by now, but other roles such as AM/PWM/ER/S&T/Corp Dev probably still have openings. I recommend applying like a crazy person to every relevant internship posting you see -- check BB portals, sites such as WayUp. It's going to be very helpful that you have the BB name on your resume but make sure you know why you didn't get a return offer and be able to have a good response in interviews, this late in the game you will definitely be asked.

Also, of course network and cast a wide net, right now the most important thing to do is get your foot in the door somewhere, and then worry about lateraling to your dream job.
