Consulting & Investment Banking recruiting in the same season?
I am a rising econ major junior at a target school for most, if not all, major consulting and banking firms. I interned in corporate finance at an f-500 firm last summer and I did not thoroughly enjoy it. I want to try something in financial services next summer, but I can not decide between management consulting and investment banking. I have been focusing primarily on management consulting networking and case interview practice, but recently I have become more and more interested in IB.
I'm aiming for BB or MBB but would obviously settle for what I can get. Is it worth it to split to my time for networking, casing, and doing practice interviews for both career paths? Would this make it harder for me to get a decent internship in either field than if I focused my efforts on only one? Is it common for people to recruit in both of these competitive fields and still receive offers in at least one?
