Do companies have to disclose drug testing in offer letter?
I know this is a common topic on here, but I couldn't find anything that actually answers this question.
I have a finance internship secured for next summer, and the offer letter notes it is contingent on passing a background check. Does this mean there won't be a drug test? When my friends have gotten jobs that drug test, their offer letter has made it clear it is contingent on a background check **and ** drug test. My start date is nearly a year away so I'm not worried, just curious if there is a requirement to disclose a test in advance.
ft_recruiting12345, way too quiet in here. What about these resources:
Hope that helps.
Each state has different laws on drug testing. I have never heard of a state that requires disclosing the drug test in an offer letter, but it's possible that it could be a state requirement. My guess is that your friend's employers wanted to make it clear that there will be a drug test, but they were not required to do so. To be on the safe side, I would expect a drug test.
Not sure but it can't hurt to ask. "Hey, new employer - do you drug test? I'm about to get Willie-Nelson-blazed and want to know how far in advance I need to put down the reefer"
