Early Strategy& Internship Offer
Hello Everyone,
I am a rising Junior at a semi-target who was lucky enough to get an early internship offer at Strategy& (formerly Booz & Company). The only catch is that the offer expires on October 1st, which is well before any of the other firms I'm interested in would give me offers, should I attempt to go through their normal recruiting timelines.
I have an okay (3.6) GPA, good extracurriculars, previous internship experience, and good test scores (35 ACT, 2310 SAT). Should I gratefully take this offer, or risk it for a perhaps better opportunity? Can I leverage this offer to perhaps expedite the recruiting process at other firms? How does Strategy& compare in terms of pay and prestige to MBB and top BB firms, and to other firms in general? Thank you in advance for the advice.
How did you get this early internship offer?
PwC's National Advisory Elevate Program - I did quite well in the interviews, and was lucky enough to be one of the three kids given an early offer for Strategy&. Everyone who makes National Advisory Elevate gets an offer however.
Empy i just wrote a long reply but just realised you posted this originally a long time ago haha.
I can only speak of them in Australia.
Coming out of undergrad, in their full-time program, pay is pretty much on par with MBB. Base is about the same as IB BB but there's a hard cap on the bonus at S& so there's the potential to earn more in IB. Very different work though.
They're pretty integrated with PwC in some respects now, From what i've heard that's a positive thing as a new analyst (you get all the pros of a PwC hire, plus all the normal S& things). But still separate in other areas (you're paid substantially more than your PwC colleagues).
As far as exit ops go, all very strong. Almost everyone here does an MBA after 3 years here, which S& pays for. They only pay if you get into a top school, but then they only hire people who they think have the capability to get into a top MBA.
A friend of mine did Goldman IB internship and then switched took a full time with S&. They enjoy Strategy& a LOT more than IB. That has a lot to do with the work type sure, but the lifestyle is a lot better at S& as well. No hanging around the office doing face time. They'll often leave the office at 6pm, go to the gym, then head home and work from home if need be.
If i was you i'd accept the internship. If you still want to apply to the others you still can, then if you get another offer you can make the choice which you want to take, and perhaps the choice of whether to burn the bridge at S&.
