Entry level (lateral)
I'm currently a Public Fin IB analyst working at a boutique; its temp work and will end soon (end of June). I'm not interested in Public Finance work, and I'm looking more into management consulting. Are there any specific consulting companies, that recruit for entry level positions with only one year of experience ? What firms should I be targeting and where should I look? I've been using Indeed and typing "consulting or management consulting" is vague and doesn't yield a lot of results.
I'm assuming that MMB are out of reach? How about Booze Allen, LEK, Accenture, Monitor, AT Kearny?
Thanks.
If you are doing well at your job, ask your boss or co-workers. They will know your area and the best people to talk to in it and might be willing to speak to your experience.
Booze Allen, LEK, Accenture, Monitor, AT Kearny should definitely be in your reach. It might be pretty late for a FT recruiting.
Did you go to a target university? That might help, a lot
No, I didn't go to a target. I went to a super non-target don't have any alumni in mgmt consulting I found one on Linkedin.
I should reach out to him.
What positions should I be looking for at Booze, LEK, Accenture? The positions I always see are for those with 2+ year of experience or more. Not much for someone with one year of experience.
From a non-target, Ive found AT Kearney to be a major pain in the *** to land an interview at. Try Booz & Co, Deloitte, and Accenture. Oliver Wyman may be more partial to candidates with banking backgrounds. Booz Allen is all government consulting. I can't comment on LEK. I wouldn't even rule out MBB. You may not get in there by applying online, but the right connection might be able to get you an interview. More importantly, try prepping cases right now. Consulting interviews are a lot different from banking and once you get an opportunity at one of these top places, you can't screw it up. Especially coming from a non-target.
Thanks guys,
Is there any particular website that is that I should visit daily to see if there is any new openings?
Thank you.
I would just go to the websites of each consulting firm and apply via career opportunities. If possible, I would reach out to the recruiter and ask which position would best suit you (ex: entry level, or experienced hire).
Best of luck!
