Execution trader. Cold emailing on LinkedIn

Hi folks,

I am currently an execution trader at a quant fund in the U.K. For reasons I can't go into (would expose my identity). I am looking to move roles. Unfortunately not many roles are advertised in my space with many people staying at their current companies for many years. This has lead me to belivie that my best approach would be to find hiring managers at similar companies and to message them on LinkedIn.

My question is what is the best approach/format to do this on linkedin Should I attach my CV when messaging.

Is it ok to contact someone on the team if I don't know who the hiring manager is or should I target HR people at these firms?

informational interview don't really seem to be a thing here in the UK (I could be wrong ) so don't know how to approach this, or how direct to be. For a lot of these places I think my experiences would match up quite well and I could be a real asset. I just don't know how to put myself in front of the right person. Also there isn't an advertised job when I go to message. I am hoping after meeting me when future opportunities come up I would be considered.

Additionally I am located in the north of the Uk, with most firms being in London. So informal meet ups although not impossible are not as easy.

Would appreciate any advise. Thanks.
