Finding a Job When Coming From a Non-Traditional Background
I recently graduated with a degree in Computer Information Systems and was a bit overwhelmed when looking for investment banking jobs. A bit of background, I don't have any finance internships which I know is a handicap. However for the last two years I traded my with my own cash, using Python to develop an algorithmic trading platform. Additionally I have also worked on several projects that I have uploaded on GitHub including a charting application using Python, and a ratio lookup worksheet using Excel/VBA. So as you may have already deduced, the bulk of my experience is technical.
What I was wondering is how I can use what I have to my advantage when applying for jobs and what if any areas of investment banking should I should go after when job searching.
