First Job Opportunity
Hey everyone,
I've just been offered what I view as a pretty good job opportunity, but I'd definitely like some input from others on WSO.
The job title is "Portfolio Asset Manager". I would be working for a smaller company that owns a growing real estate portfolio. It's something like 5-6 hotels, ~1,000 apartment units, and a couple of retail assets. The owner is trying to build up an in house asset management team, so he can focus more on acquisitions.
My job would be giving a broader overview of the performance of the portfolio, and it will include some travel to the portfolio's various assets for site visits.
I feel like the title is a bit misleading based on my actual qualifications. This will be my first real estate job. My previous experience is 1.5 years in public accounting (all real estate clients). I've done a lot of reading and self studying, so I feel comfortable with a lot of baseline terms/knowledge one would need for this job.
Long story short, I believe this will be a great opportunity because I will be the entire asset management department. I feel that it could be an excellent first job opportunity because of the variety of assets and the amount of responsibility I'll have. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
