First year at Oxford. Realistic career prospects?

Hi everyone,

I'm reading Classics at the University of Oxford. I have always viewed myself as an erudite individual who would pursue graduate studies in law, history, and so on. However, I recognize that I cannot spend my entire adult life in school. Do you have any suggestions for potential career paths for me? I was particularly strong in maths and physics in high school in the US, and learning new skills will not be too difficult. Thank you.

Hedge Funds, the stronger your love for history and reading, the better this path will be (you'll spend quite some time studying the history of markets and asset classes and how new developments relate to them). To explore your interest, I would highly advise reading 'Principles for navigating big debt crises' by Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater (the largest hedge fund in the world) - looks at recessions going back as early as they could be understood/recorded and combines that love for history with math and economics. Your strong physics and math skills will also allow you to fit into the field, which is becoming increasingly more quant-focused.
