GPA concerns

i’ve come to dilemma of my major GPA being solid (3.5+) but my overall gpa is almost 0.3 lower due doing poorly in stupid gen ed classes. i am currently at a non target/semi target close to the NYC and am planning on cold mailing and calling exhaustively so i know its a uphill battle regardless of GPA.

i just have two questions.

  1. should i use my major gpa or overall And if i use my major gpa do i specify as major gpa or not?

  1. i know ib and/or pe is the general route to HF and i'm very open minded to these areas but is there any chance i can get opportunities this summer or should i just focus on getting into IB/PE?(currently a sophomore w/ no prior interships)

thanks.
