Gucci Loafers with the Gold Bit vs Silver Bit

Hey so I've been working for a while and I figured that the time to get some really nice loafers has arrived. I like the black Gucci horsebit loafers with the silver bit a ton - I see em everywhere and the people in my office recommend I get them. However, Gucci's website only lists the ones with the gold bit, and on the dept store websites (Saks, BG, etc) the silver bit ones are all sold out.

I feel like getting the gold would be a bad move. Should I wait to see if they re-release their classic silver bit sleds or maybe check other brands like AE or Ferragamo? Will they even sell the silver bit ones again/is it like a seasonal thing?

Thanks in advance. This may be a dumb question but bear with me here.

Get the ones with either the Tigers/Dragons/Snakes. The epitome of style. 11/10 MDs would recommend.

Is it just me, or is this year's women's fashion trend of backless deal sleds off-putting?

Since when did offensively luxurious slippers become acceptable (nay, de rigueur) office attire?

Oct 25, 2018

Lmao i, a male, actually like the sleds that fold in the back for quick access/lounging, but the flat slipper ones seem kinda pointless. I'm clumsier in slide-like shoes and would probably fuck those up pretty fast.

You're right, we do we even let women in the office.

I'm 90% sure if we had mandatory business casual and pant-suits/suit women would stop working.

I prefer the silver bit as all the metal on your body should match (in theory).

If you have a gold belt buckle, then the gold on the shoe is fine. I just find myself wearing silver/stainless much more often.

Jul 3, 2018

I agree. I honestly like the silver a lot more and might just go to another brand rather than waiting for a hopeful re-release

Gold tends to be on sale more. Probably because they are less popular.

I wish I could fit gucci. I have a ton of Ferragamo's because of their EE size.

Jul 3, 2018

I'm probably gonna go with Ferragamo since I just heard that the silver bit ones were discontinued for some stupid reason. Timeless shoe, no need for it to die.

I would suggest the Ferragamo loafers, if you're wanting the almond toe and something a bit more fashion-forward. I have AE and Gucci loafers, and I find the AE collecting dust, bc of the rounded toe and more classic style. It's all subjective, but since you like the Gucci look, Ferragamo is likely to appeal to you more.

Nov 5, 2018

I personally cannot stand the Ferragamo style bit. A touch too gaudy for me. I think you can't go wrong with a dark/chocolate brown Gucci loafer with a gold bit, supplemented by an Allen Edmonds black loafer with a silver bit.

I am a bit OCD so I like to match all my metals and leathers - eye glasses, watch, belt, and shoe. Therefore, I would only get black shoe with silver bit - imagine wearing gold watch and gold glasses - that would be tacky as hell. Ferragamo is not that comfortable compared to Gucci loafers - so I would just wait it out.

I think that you should use the money to support malnourished African children...

JK you should buy Ferragamo instead

THERE ARE PLENTY OF MALNOURISHED AMERICANS. THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE LIVING IN POVERTY IN AMERICA THAN IN AFRICA.

39.7 MILLION AMERICANS LIVE IN POVERTY. AMERICA IS THE 3RD LARGEST COUNTRY WITH THE HIGHEST POPULATION LIVING IN POVERTY. https://povertyusa.org/facts

Dude I'm not criticizing your fashion spending choices--I would be the world biggest hypocrite on this if I did so, just the mindset to your post on malnourished people being associated with a particular continent when there are plenty of malnourished people in the US

America's a big country - of course we have a fuck ton of poor and malnourished people. However, equating food insecurity with people who are actually starving to death is laughable. There's a huge difference between receiving inadequate nutrition (while having access to some of the most generous welfare programs in the world) or sometimes not having enough to eat and literally dying of starvation and malaria in a 3rd world hellhole. Not saying Africa is a bad place, just that there's more bad places concentrated in Africa.

It's your hard earned money, spend it on whatever the fuck you want!

Also, how the fuck are the more people in Africa living in poverty than in the USA? World Bank says there's 413 million people living in extreme poverty in Africa, that's more than America's population.

I would love to tie you up in my SEX DUNGEON.

And I do agree that the United States should invest more in Africa as well

Oct 27, 2018

Wheeeww, shimmyy shimmy, where do I start, Lloyd? Starting with last point, yeah, if it wants to remain relevant as a great power, but it's a little too late, and the $60 billion announced 2 weeks ago just for that is not enough. That's how much China pledged last year alone.

Certainly, it's not a secret my weakness is pleasure-mixed pain. But I'm afraid you might not be able to handle me ;)

First of all, World Bank is notorious for getting shit wrong. And for a total population of 1.2 billion and growing rapidly by the year, a few hundred in extreme poverty (discounting all the fucked up reasons to no fault of their own--1884 Berlin) that's not too bad. In a few decades it will be the most populous continent. Ever wonder why Macron is freaking out about babies in Africa? Well old Europe's population is on a downward slope, and Nigeria will have the same population as the US within the next 2-3 decades. Fear fear fear, Lloyd, the west may not recover from the extreme societal turbulence it's experiencing right now. But we'll be in a dungeon, wont we :)

The problem is that people in the shittiest parts of Africa, are the ones having the most kids. Decades of work in reducing poverty is going to go down the shitter because people in the slums of Lagos are reproducing like rabbits while the rest of the world is barely having kids.

Nov 10, 2018

how are you supposed to match all the metal in your outfit, if your shoes don't even match themselves?

Oct 25, 2018

To update everyone, I copped the gucci ones with all the fur coming out the back and was instantly bumped to MD and closed more deals (both kinds) than I can count. The Vatican is considering making me a saint.

Jk, I actually ended up buying AE Verona II's. I know they're not on the same level as Gamo or Gucci, but I bought pairs in brown and black and now not only have access to sleds, but have diversified my sled portfolio. I'll probably buy a nicer marquee pair once I work a while longer. Feel like I shouldn't have spent so much on shoes and instead saved the money in case I need it, but tbh I deserve something nice.

EDIT: To you sledless motherfuckers who are giving me MS, fuck off cuckboys.

Oct 25, 2018

That was one long time to decide. Glad to see the diversity in your sled portfolio, still bullish on Gucci. Long term investments.
