HF Recruiting for Incoming Analysts

Question

Hi all,

I am an incoming analyst at an EB and I was just wondering how do I approach recruiting for HFs. I have seen threads regarding on-cycle recruiting but since HF recruiting is much more unstructured than PE (depends on when someone leaves or if there is a need for another analyst), how do I go about it when HHs reach out for on-cycle? Appreciate any advice!

P.S. I am certain that I want to go for HFs and won't be recruiting for PE.

Yeah I went far in the process for Baupost (Seth meets everyone towards the end) and it's a very different interview process. They really test your innate intellectual horsepower, investing philosophy and stretch how you think. They give you these hypothetical scenarios and ask how you'd think about them, think about businesses/ frame opportunities and value different outcomes. They took random things I mentioned about my life and tied them into finance scenarios. I had a 30 minute discussion about a mexican restaurant in NYC and some real estate land/plot development for malls in Florida.
