How do I search for a non-IB job?
Hey guys, i'll be starting my master's in economics at Durham University, UK this Fall. It's a 1 year program and I have no idea how to look for a job, what websites I should be using, what salary expectations I should have, what skills I should have, how non-IB networking works, where I should look for internships etc.
I'll be honest, I have no work experience at all, no internships, no nothing. I graduated with a bachelor's in finance from a eastern european country where commerical banking is triumph and investing is pretty much dead and most entry jobs are for people with connections.
I don't want to come back here after I graduate and I am willing to work anywhere in the world excluding eastern Europe and Central Europe.
The only worthy thing about my profile will be that until the end of the year I will have a working knowledge of R, mysql and excel. And if I manage my time right I might have some practical skills in Python. +I have US citizenship so I can work in the US as well.
The areas I am interested in working in is economic forecasting, economic research, investing or any job which could help me break in the IB industry.
Thanks.
+SB for good advice.
