How should I understand hedge funds?
I am currently a student and I have taken finance as my major. So as part of our compulsory internship, there are companies visiting our campus in order to recruit us, in which one of them is JP Morgan. The profile that they have provided is of a hedge fund analyst and so far in our course, nothing has been taught that could match these advanced levels. How can I get atleast a basic understanding of hedgefunds?

The only way to learn how to invest is to read as many investing books as you can get your hands on. That is how I got started and how I broke into a hedge fund early on in my career after investment banking.
Start looking into sectors that you are interested in and get a list of companies to track. Read their transcripts / earnings releases and overtime you will get an understanding of what moves stocks and what drives earnings.

copy+paste the profile or job description or at least the job responsibilities if you want our help. "help me help you". your explanation is too broad at this point to have someone help you specifically in a way other than copy+pasting a link to another very broad shitty Vault Guide. and sorry for the harsh response
Khan Academy does a good job of explaining the basics through a series of educational videos https://www.khanacademy.org/economics-finance-domain/core-finance/inves…
I'd need more information on the role before I can help you - is it in their alternatives team that invest in hedge funds?
