Implications of a Gap Year
Hey guys,
I'll be graduating in May 2016 and I have a lot of decisions to make in the near future with a degree in Finance. One thing that's always intrigued me is teaching English in Far East countries like China, Korea, or Japan.
I guess my question is, what are the implications of taking a gap year to teach abroad, in terms of how recruiters view you? Would it be seen as more of a con because you've wasted a year that could have been spent in the field, does it have any effect at all, or could it be somehow viewed as a strength (god willing)?
Any and all insight is greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Andrew
.... so why do you want to teach English in a country that views you as a bit of a joke.... for horrendously low pay...?
Honestly its not about the pay or what they view me as, its more of a bucket list thing to immerse myself in a different culture for an extended period and experience something far outside of my comfort zone.
The question still remains unanswered though..
