India's New Currency Sign: What do you think?

So what do you guys think of the new Rupee sign? I kinda like it to be honest. Kinda looks like an R and the € got smashed together.

Oh by the way, this was the one that was picked out of 3,000 entries. The guy who submitted it won $5,000.

loki276Only 5000 that's a shit amount for designing a new currency sign. The new sign does look good though

$5000 goes a long way in India. Think purchasing power. It's still not a whole lot, but prizes like that make a bigger difference when you're in a poorer country.

still 5 grand... for something that will be used all over the world

anyway i like it

looking for that pick-me-up to power through an all-nighter?

mendeleafIt's the letter for 'R' in the Indian script, र, with a line through it. A little bit a copy of the € and ¥ in terms of design, but still ethnic enough to have its own identity.

Yes, thats True.. R is in Devanagari script.. Not easy to pronounce.. Guy must have known Kautilya Arthashastra, as he could come up with the symbol.. Was just wondering, why Ri from 'Rishi' or from 'Rigved' was not considered..

Well, i liked the symbol..

If one is to research on Reserve Currency Sign/symbol by IMF: What comes to the mind?
