Making the switch from Engineering Consultancy to Management Consultancy
I work as a project manager for an engineering consultancy in the nuclear industry. It is one of the top engineering consultancies in the UK. The nuclear industry also pays well.
I’m getting good experience managing client projects and my progression thus far has been great.
The work life balance is fantastic but I want to significantly increase my salary in the future whilst having the flexibility of working remotely. My end goal is to maximise how much I earn cumulatively over my career lifetime. If I want to keep the 40hr/remote working lifestyle should I look to switch to management consulting once I gain a couple more years of experience? Or should I stay in Engineering Consulting?
A separate question is how common is it to work off pay role as a contractor in Management Consulting?
