Career Resources
If you look at rankings, IE is ranked higher than SDA, while SDA is one of the best "value for money" MBAs. The main question you need to ask yourself is where you want to live after you graduate. Are you Italian? If yes, then you will have very good prospects from SDA. If not and you don't speak the language fluently, it will be too hard.
Did either give you a scholarship or financial aid?
From SDA, 31% of graduates enter consulting (http://www.sdabocconi.it/en/mba-executive-mba/full-time-mba/career-netw…). At IE only 15% do so, with 17% entering financial services (http://www.ie.edu/business/programas/IMBA/Overview/IE%20International%2…). Based on this, SDA seems to be the better choice. On the other hand, IE has very interesting Double Degree options, namely with MIT, Yale and Tufts. SDA has exchange options with a number of prominent schools.
If you are keen on consulting, have you considered INSEAD?
Note that people at IE are recruited for banking while SDA is not visited. This probably leads to more strong candidates going into consulting (since they cannot go into banking) and to an higher percentage. A part these stats, I would pick SDA over IE only if you are 100% sure you want to work in Italy and you did not do your BSc and MSc at Bocconi University. IE is a better school and if you want to work for MBB or other top consulting firms (in Italy, or wherever you want) IE MBA looks much better than SDA MBA.
No brainer for me (and I am a former Bocconi student)....
thank you guys, just to give you a little background about myself, I have a MSc in Industrial Engineer at the Politecnico of Milan. I got scholarship from both, different amounts, so I feel very lucky to be in the position to choose btw them.
Actually I did not consider INESEAD, but I should have done... and my dead line is very close.
I have 2 concerns about IE: 1 - Internship, they do not mention an internship as an important milestone, but I think is one of the most important step in getting experience and maybe a job (in consulting at least) 2 - you are right, statistic about job in consulting are not so good, but would be interesting to understand the reason behind that.
Try to get in touch with former alumni from both programs. I've been interviewing for a MBB company last year and the Principal who interviewed me was an engineer from Polimi who got an MBA from SDA.... so SDA may work. At the same time, the boyfriend of my current manager just joined Booz & Co. following his MBA at IE. I think both MBAs will work but I am pretty sure IE will be better if you would like to consider international experiences or other sectors (ie Banking).
Posso chiederti un paio di cose con un messaggio privato?
certo
Ciao non ho ricevuto ancora il tuo messaggio privato.
If you have the time, also look into IMD in Lausanne. If you know you want to be in Italy, SDA. Otherwise, I'd say IE.
What's your GMAT? If it is sufficient, really think about applying to INSEAD. They are very flexible in regards to deadlines and graduation: http://mba.insead.edu/admissions/dates_deadlines.cfm
