Monk straps are big in europe right now. They're fine for the office but I would be hesitant to blow $385 on them because they won't always be trending. If you go for something of a more classic style it will never go out of fashion. Also, not a big fan of brogued monk straps, but that's just me.
If in U.S., just go the classy route. I think I'd like to be known as the guy who dresses well for the occasion but I'd never want to be known as the most trendy or fashionista at work.
