Murray Hill vs Hells Kitchen - First Apt

New grad here moving to NYC. I originally posted a thread earlier asking where to live (my office is in Chelsea). I was thinking Hoboken and most responses agreed, but after giving it some thought, I realized I'd prefer to live in Manhattan rather than Jersey as long as the cost is within reason.

My priorities are: cheap rent (relatively), nightlife, low commute time, and being around lots of people my age (new grad). To that end, I've found Murray Hill and Hells Kitchen to be the best neighborhoods that match my criteria. Harlem, UES, and UWS are not an option because I need something within a 30 minute commute of my office.

Anyway, I've heard from a friend that Murray Hill has a better guy/girl ratio (in favor of guys) and more bars, so right now I'm leaning towards Murray Hill. What else should I be thinking w/ respect to this decision?
