Need help understanding what I'd be doing
Hi,
I will graduate soon and will be starting in a smaller multi-national company's fp&a group. During my interviews, I asked about my potential responsibilities and was told I'd be started on operating and capital expenses to try me out then add responsibilities as I get better. Now, I've had a corp fin internship in the past but I'd like to better understand what the real world application of those two account lines entail?
My takeaway was that I'd take ownership of those expenses and I assume I'd be in charge of collecting(weekly/monthly emails from various teams on their expenses for the period), analyzing(reading data and pinpointing the main drivers), then reporting of that information(highlighting my analysis then making a deck to present to leadership) . That is my understanding at the highest level. Would I be involved in the forecasting or budgeting(still not sure what these entail as well)? Any information or background into what I'd be doing would be greatly appreciated. Just wondering what exactly I'd be expected to do with "cap and op ex"
