Networking best practices?
Hello everyone,
I have started networking for SA 23 and I was wondering what are some best practices. I am a non-target and non-diversity, but I am prepping for technicals and trying to leverage whatever connections I have. but I am struggling to find out how to network with banks that don't have alumni/connections. Any advice? and what about cold calling and cold emailing? and is it appropriate to reach out to MD straight or should I start from the analyst level
I would say start with analyst/associate level. I would only reach out to VP/MD if they are an alumni or have some sort of connection. Don't be afraid to reach out to people that aren't alumni, the hit rate might be lower but it is necessary if you are at a non-target. Also, stay away from trying to cold call. I don't think people would appreciate that.
