Optiver 1st Round Quantitative Assessment
I applied for a quantitative trading internship role at this firm and got a first round assessment that I have to complete in less than 4 days.
The first assessment is a bunch of neuro-assessment games and a personality survey on Zyvo.
The second assessment is a 45-minute HackerRank (with 2 optional 30-minute breaks) that apparently tests basic math and probability skills, according to a comment on GlassDoor.
Does anybody know what this assessment is like? I have another one with a separate firm that's the standard 22-minute test that covers mental math and sequences and I've found plenty of resources to prepare for that one, but I have no idea what this HackerRank is going to be like and whether it involves any coding.
I appreciate any advice.
Yeah, I applied for FT (still currently in the interview process) and managed to successfully pass the OA. The assessment includes 80 questions of mental math in 8 minutes (lots of decimal addition/subtraction as well), probability and logical puzzle type questions, and finally betting game type questions. It's hard to prep for it, but maybe go through some sort of probability textbook to review the basics, grind mental math on a website like Rank Your Brain, and focus on learning Bayesian statistics. Good luck! Btw for what it's worth, I heard that the majority of applicants don't make it past this stage, so you really have to be on your A game. After OA, it should just be Phone (behavioral), and then straight to final round.
