People who go directly into PE

Hi all,

I am interested to hear about the experience of those of you who began careers in private equity directly out of undergrad.

I understand the theoretical limitations of such a career move (i.e. less mobility potentially, lower salary, pigeon-holed in MM if that's where you start, etc.). What I am interested to hear is how your story has played out in the real world.

Have you felt inhibited? Have you been able to successfully lateral to other (bigger?) PE firms? Do you feel like another career start would have given you greater optionality? Do you have regrets related to your decision to start in PE?
