P/F instead of a grade for a lot of classes- Will it matter?

Currently in school and I am replacing a lot of my grades w/ a P. Will employers care about having me if I have several P's on my Transcript? 

Should I just keep the grade even if it will slightly lower my GPA?

I wouldn't go crazy but imagine if you had a few in total you'd be fine. When the pandemic first hit there was a steep and fast learning curve shifting from in-person to online, so there was major disruption. Disruption still exists, but I'd say less so since we've had a chance to figure out some sort of "cadence" for online classes/streaming/test taking or whatever. It still pales in comparison to in-person, but you get my point. I've never been asked for a transcript for a job, but you never know - might raise more questions than not if someone is looking at all "Ps" instead of actual grades. 

However, I think a larger implication might be if you are in undergrad and go to apply for grad school/MBA, especially if there are pre-requisite classes that feed into the graduate school curriculum. I feel they are much more concerned about undergraduate performance in particular classes, or cumulatively, than an employer seeing "above a 3.0" GPA. Just a thought.

For MBA, they will not care. They have stated, and also posted on their websites, that those who elected to p/f all or some of their courses during the pandemic will not be at a disadvantage. I mean, even normally MBA programs are the least to care about specific grades and whether someone has Ws or Ps or whatever, so this makes sense to me. Other grad programs, maybe, but I doubt

So, most employers (certainly in real estate, but I suspect same in most of finance also), look at transcripts (which is a rare request to be honest) just for two things....

1. Verification of degree conferral (this is probably all they are looking for 90% of the time)

2. Verification of GPA

That second one is what you are asking about, most probably just look at the last term, or in major, or essentially want is printed at the bottom and easy to read. Could an HR rep try and "decode" a transcript? Possibly, but not likely. 

It is possible that some hiring manager or team member may want to see your "grade" via transcript or unofficial printout (like what you hit print on from the online grade system). This is usually to see what you have taken, and for the courses that interest them, see the grade. So, if you get this kind of review (which is possible, but more later in interview than HR screening), someone may take note (fully must admit, I would do this!!! If I wanted to see a transcript, which maybe I would for certain positions), and if I saw a bunch of "P"s for grades on "hard" courses, I would 100% assume you are just more of a "P" when it comes to hard classes, and would think less than someone with an A/B. Is it better than a "C", yeah it probably is! (Still, I really doubt my hiring decision would ever come down to something so petty, but I might give you shit about it in an interview, just to see how you react!!)

Bottom line, could it matter, I guess, will it matter... probably not. On net, the higher upfront GPA will get you through more screenings, which is usually the only place GPA matters TBH.
