Piper Jaffray Interview
So I was supposed to have an interview with Piper Jaffray on Monday but HR never called as planned. Is this normal? I mean it is not the most professional thing to do to break an appointment like that; unless this is the kind of treatment we should expect from banks, is it?
Thanks.
I'd just send an email and be as polite as possible. Simply say that you were supposed to have an interview, but no one called and you were interested in rescheduling. It happened to me once, and it wasn't like the guy purposely blew me off or anything - he just happened to get really busy when I was supposed to talk to him. I ended up talking to him a few days later and we had a great convo.
I'm not sure what you're interviewing for but word is Piper just closed their Chicago office and fired all the analysts there. All of the HR stuff, for banking at least, is done of out Minneapolis.
Breaking the appointment is not professional, but no one ever accused Piper HR of having their shit together. Trust me, they are not that busy.
is this due to the market condition?
It's been rumored for a while and the office was continually being downsized, and then a few more senior guys walked and that was that.
It happened to me once. The interviewer scheduled a phone interview with me, but she didn't call, so I called the interviewer myself and then she called me back and we had an interesting discussion.
If I were you, I would call them right now and schedule another time.
The HR person I am in contact with is from Minneapolis. I waited 15 minutes after our appointment and then I tried calling her. Then an hour later I tried emailing her. I even sent the email with a read receipt option but never received anything back.
Not sure if this is their way of telling me the position has already been filled or what :)
The whole process with them has been unique. Initially, the way they requested documents from me was through certified snail mail, which was a first for me. So I am not quite sure what to make of the way they work.
Anyone has connections inside of their SF office (that's where the position is) that can find out more for me?
Thanks.
