Purchase of a PE Portfolio Company

Hi all,

This is probably a rather uncommon question, but likely interesting for some of you.
I am currently restructuring a PE Portfolio company of one of the megafunds in Europe. I am doing this through my own consulting company as a CRO on a per diem basis.
It is a production company of industrial goods (ca. 150 mEUR in revenues, ca. 1000 employees, negative EBITDA, but can be fixed I think).
I want to buy this company together with the CEO. We are both not really in depth experienced in Finance and buy-out but have quite strong connections to banks (CEO-level). How would you go about this processwise with regards to getting some informal commitment of the bank to finance this (ca. 50 mEUR). I do not want to spend more time than needed to get an indicative answer, but also do not want to underspend so I get a no when I could get a yes. Please keep in mind I do not have staff, I run my consulting business as a very high per diem one man show based on connections initially from MBB.
After that I would talk to the PE MD with whom I have a good relationship on an informal basis.

Thank you for any thoughts on this.
