Re-entry after PhD

Hi all,

I'm looking for some career advice from WSO, as I'm fairly clueless and in a fairly odd position.

My background: Double major in Maths and Econ at a target school -> BB macro research -> PhD Stats/CS

I essentially got bored of the macro research after a couple of years, intended to do a master's/MBA and go into a more data driven role in IB/AM/HF, but instead ended up on a PhD. I fully plan on returning to finance, but I'm a bit stuck in terms of directions. Ideally I would like positions in quant/systematic macro, but are there demand in this sector? Any suggestions on other areas to look into with my background?

Thanks,
J
