Seeking advice on sign/on bonus

Hi all,

I would like to ask for advice to those who have experience in this, entering a contract with sign on bonus.

I am in the contracting phase for a VP role in an IB.

The hiring manager does not want to wait for me to receive my bonus at the end of June and got approval for a buy-out for a decent amount.

While waiting for the contract to arrive the recruiter is sounding me " that normally it would be paid with first pay check".

This makes me feel that I am gambling with my own money, while they are the ones who like me to resign promptly.

Do you think I should negotiate? I thought:

Option 1: payable at signing, they can claw back if I dont turn up

Option 2: Payable with first paycheck, if they walkout for no reason (can happen in life i guess) payable at demand.

Also there are still checks etc they need to complete right - I do not want to be in a situation taking risk that they are incompetent and decide to walk out from the deal after signing.

Also given that they are paying my accrued bonus, what sort of clawback shall I allow?

What kind of negotiation power do I have here? I also dont want it to drag unnecessarily long.

All advice very appreciated.

Ps. I have a second process ongoing with lower salary but no fuss like this.
