Should I take the job for experience or pass it off so I can move as planned
Hey chimps and apes, I need some advice or some solid feedback on my situation. Currently haven't reached out to anyone else yet but want to start here.
So I'm currently a sophomore studying for my accounting degree in a small city at a tiny school. I'm set up to finish my associates and can transfer to university by next fall of 2022. I go to school full time and work PT 30-36 Hours. Not a heavy workload but could change with this job opportunity that was proposed to me last week. About me; I work at the bank right now, I have sold consumer loans for 8 months(company closed and layed off), and had one internship doing books and payroll my freshman year.
The concern comes from my ambition to move to the closest major city I live by due to majority of my classes being online/hybrid. I got close friends up there and lived there before and life was more better when it came to meeting new people and having a social life. I was offered last week a opportunity to work my own schedule at a accounting firm in town. The owner wants to show me how to do income taxes, books, and payroll hoping I can be a full timer once i graduate. I don't plan on staying here in my current city once I graduate, I'm here to be closer to my family who retire this year and cheap living so I can manage my finance and save because I own my fathers property that I'm renovating and ready to star renting out by December.
My issue is, should I consider staying in this small city for another .5 - 1.5 years just to get the first job offer and get something under my belt or keep my plans unchanged so I can move to a major city where the outcome can be more or equal to my chances of getting experience and work. I do want to continue my studies into a university so staying makes me feel like I'm turning my back on my plans and being complacent or "just good" or "safe" for now.
