Signing Bonus and Relocation the same?

Hi

I received and offer from a BB in London. In the contract it was mentioned a relocation bonus of $7-9K, but nothing about signing bonus. Is this the equivilant of signing bonuses, or do people normally receive an additional signup bonus in addition to the relocation payment? Would it be possible to contact HR to attempt to negotiate a signing bonus?

P.S. it's a full time offer and I have not yet signed. I realize it's a bit of a stupid questions, but don't rly have many friends/connections in international banks so don't know if this is something ppl negotiate on ( since the base salary is fixed for analysts)

They are different. They may offer one in instead of the other try looking up your firms policy on the web.

at the analyst level, signing / relocation / starting bonuses are the same thing, just using different name. Please do not call HR, offers are standardized and you will not come out looking good by asking. Now, for various reasons (mainly tax), some banks may offer relocation service in addition to a (smaller) signing bonus. However, note that although some employer may offer you to take a lump sum, they generally will hire and pay a relocation firms that will handle your move, temporary housing and sometimes brokers fees on your new place.

Now, for experienced candidate, it's pretty standard to offer relocation
