Some Regrets

I am a senior at a major IB target. Not an ivy but has a huge alumni presence at all the reputable banks on Wall Street. I did not know much about IB and didn't really understand the hype all that much until very recently. I also realized PE sounds super cool and that it would be something I would love to do in the future. Because I didn't know much about IB, I didn't get an IB internship junior summer and now didn't catch FT recruiting in time.

The camaraderie, pay, and PE exit opps that are available to banking are bringing up some regrets. I am joining a top T2 consulting firm after graduation in a major city (OW, LEK, S&) and there are some PE exits, but not as easily accessible as it is from banking. I wish I could go back in time and take part in the banking recruiting cycle. For what it's worth, I am still very happy and fortunate to have a full-time offer from a good consulting firm.

Any advice to get over this? Is it possible to lateral from one of the above firms to major IBs like a year in?

lol you got top notch offers that aren't even necessarily worse in terms of exits than much of IB. Don't take this the wrong way but I see no reason for you to be so upset. I don't see anything stopping you from lateraling to IB in a yr if you network and apply but I personally would rather be at one of those consulting firms rather than IB haha.
